چکیده

The distribution of norepinephrine, dopamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine in various areas of the CNS of the normal monkey has been presented. The central levels and distribution of norepinephrine, dopamine and 5-hydroxytryptamine were determined after single doses of morphine, during maintenance of physical dependence and following withdrawal from chronic administration of morphine. Small and non-stressful doses of morphine were employed to induce experimental physical dependence. Alpha-methyl-DOPA did not qualitatively or quantitatively alter the abstinence syndrome. Pretreatment with iproniazid did not prevent depression produced by single doses of morphine in the non-tolerant monkey. The data observed in this study offer no support for the view that gross behavioral changes in the monkey produced by morphine or by its withdrawal after the development of physical dependence are induced by or may be correlated with changes in amine levels in the CNS.

Attenuation of Morphine Physical Dependence and Blood Levels of Cortisol by Central and Systemic Administration of Ramelteon in Rat

Background: Chronic administration of morphine cause physical dependence but the exact mechanism of this phenomenon remains unclear. The aim of this study is the assessment of systemic and intracerebroventricular (icv) administration of ramelteon (a melatonin receptor agonist) on morphine physical dependence. Methods: 88 adult male rats were divided into 2 major groups, namely “systematic” and ...

P186: Efeect of Morphine State-Dependent Memory on Pentylenetetrazole in the Rat

It has been shown that pre-test systemic administration of morphine was able to reverse memory impairment induced by pre- or post-training morphine in an inhibitory avoidance paradigm. Since the recall of the learned information is possible only if the subject is in the same state as during the encoding phase, this kind of learning is known as state-dependent learning. Several drugs have been d...

Systemic and intracerebroventricular effects of opioid peptides in withdrawn morphine-dependent rhesus monkeys.

The effects of the degradation-resistant enkephalin analogs FK 33-824 and metkephamid were determined after systemic and intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) administration in withdrawn morphine-dependent rhesus monkeys. Both peptides suppressed completely signs of 12-hr morphine deprivation, as does the prototype mu-receptor agonist morphine. The peptides were 100 and 2000 times more potent, respe...

اثر مصرف مورفین خوراکی بر تکوین سلول های اپاندیمی شبکه کروئیدی دستگاه عصبی مرکزی جنین موش

Background and purpose: Previous studies have shown that morphine consumption during pregnancy could delay placental and embryonic development or could cause abnormal function of nervous system. The present study evaluates the effect of oral morphine consumption on choroid plexus ependym cells of central nervous system development in Wistar rats. Materials and methods: Wistar rats (170-200...

Effect of Acute Morphine Exposure on Insulin and Blood Sugar Levels in Normal Rats

OBJECTIVE: Social belief and experimental evidences indicate that opium and its alkaloids, morphine, produced hypoglycemic effects in animal models. This study was conducted in order to determine the role of morphine on blood glucose and insulin. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This is an empirical analysis investigating the laboratory albino male rats weighing 200-250 g. Rats in the control group recei...
